Pioneer Fire Grows to 240 Acres Near Idaho City

The Pioneer Fire burning near Idaho City continues to grow.  The fire sparked Monday afternoon and is burning about 8 miles north of Idaho City and west of Elk City, and has grown to 240 acres.

The Boise National Forest has issued an area closure, as a result of the Pioneer Fire.

The Pioneer Fire Area Closure is described as all National Forest System (NFS) lands, including all roads and trails within the area, beginning at the Junction of Bear Run Road and Main Street in Idaho City.

Bear Run Road to Meadow Drive, the Duquette Pines Subdivision road is not included in the closure. Elk Creek Road or National Forest System (NFS) road 379 is closed beginning at Spanish Fork Road. Other closed roads that form the boundary of the closure area include NFS road 319, 380 and 399.
