The Idaho Child Fatality Review Team has released their 3rd annual report on child deaths in the state in 2013.
According to the reports, 5 more children died that year because their parents’ religious beliefs prevented them from getting medical treatment when they became ill.
The Spokesman Review reports, the kids died from illnesses that could have been prevented with proper treatment. All five of them were infants.
This means over a 3 year period, 10 kids total died because of their parents’ religious beliefs.
The Idaho Legislature has created a bipartisan panel to look at the possibility of creating a law that would change Idaho’s current law that allows faith healing.
No word yet on when their first meeting will be.
