Boise Man Arrested, Charged with Malicious Harassment

Boise Police say they have arrested a man after he allegedly threatened and assaulted someone Monday night just before 10:30pm near West Taft Street and North Silver Street.

According to a press release, a man drove by and threatened the victim, then physically assaulted the person. Police say the threats were meant to intimidate or harass the victim because of their national origin.

Brian Pottinger of Boise was arrested a short time later and charged with malicious harassment, which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $5000 fine.

The victim says this was not the only time Pottinger those statements, and that the person feared for their life.

Pottinger was in court Tuesday, where bond was set at $100,000.

His next hearing is scheduled for June 27.
