One of the keys of the entertainment business is “always leave them wanting more.” The Boise State football team did just that in their 55-7 beat down of Northern Illinois in the Poinsettia Bowl last week. The Broncos hit on all cylinders offensively and defensively in the impressive win.
One of the knocks on this Bronco team was the fact that they hadn’t beaten a team with a winning record this season. Northern Illinois did have a winning record, and the University of Washington moved into positive territory with their bowl win over Southern Mississippi. So the Broncos beat both Husky teams, perhaps a future trivia question.
Boise State will need to rebuild their defense for next season, but the offensive tri-feta of quarterback Brett Rypien, wide receiver Thomas Sperbeck, and tailback Jeremy McNichols has Bronco fans drooling. The Broncos finish at 9-4 a solid record, but perhaps not the glitzy season that fans here are used to watching. I think I speak for Bronco Nation when I say, I can’t wait until next year.
