The only road to Hells Canyon Dam was closed for several days due to a large rock slide.
It’s about 3 miles from the Hells Canyon Park.
Brad Bowlin with Idaho Power says the rockslide occured last Wednesday afternoon and it’s about 60 yards long.
“Obviously a lot of rocks and dirt. There are actually several large boulders that have to be blasted before they will be small enough to be able be removed. So, it’s quite a lot of material blocking the road.”
Bowlin says there are also some rocks hanging up the hill that may fall so crews have to remove those too.
Idaho Power says the road will re-open Friday, but only one lane and it will be directed by flaggers.
Drivers are asked to use caution in the area and expect delays.
