New Treasure Valley DUI task force looking for impaired drivers this weekend ahead of Halloween

Multiple law enforcement agencies have formed the Treasure Valley DUI Task Force in response to a rise in impaired driving crashes across the Treasure Valley.

CBS2 reports this new collaborative effort aims to reduce impairment-related incidents through education, awareness and enforcement.

Since 2019, the Treasure Valley has seen a 26 percent increase in alcohol-related impaired driving and a 53 percent increase in impaired driving fatalities.

In the past five years, 42 percent of all fatal crashes in the Treasure Valley have been related to impaired driving.

Drivers between the ages of 21 and 24 account for the highest number of impaired driver crashes on our roadways, followed closely by drivers aged 25 to 30.

The Treasure Valley DUI Task Force will hit the roads this weekend ahead of Halloween to look for impaired drivers.
