Ada Country Highway District finishing 2024 chip seal season

Maintenance crews at the Ada County Highway District have put the finishing touches on the 2024 chip seal season, completing 301 lane miles.

This year’s season came with many challenges, including extreme weather and poor air quality, which impacted the amount of lane miles crews were able to complete.

After applying the chips over the course of the summer, crews finished restriping and applying markings over the past few weeks.

This year, crews focused on Preventative Maintenance Zone 5, which covers roads north of the Boise River, including Boise’s North End and East End.

ACHD crews once again took advantage of the clean slate that chip seal provides, and restriped some roadways with new configurations, such as adding bike lanes and removing under-utilized middle lanes.
