A fire in Boise’s Union Building might be arson

Boise Fire and Boise Police responded to 8th and Idaho on Oct. 12, 2024, around 5:15 p.m. for a report of smoke in the basement of a business on 8th Street.

CBS2 reports some nearby businesses were briefly evacuated while the source of the smoke was located.

Firefighters quickly found materials on fire in the vacant Union Block building on West Idaho Street and extinguished the fires.

Items on fire included old kitchen and office supplies.

The fire’s cause is considered a possible arson.

The investigation is ongoing.
