Nampa K-9 officer killed in crash

The Nampa Police Department is mourning the death of K-9 officer Riddick.

Nampa Police said the patrol car Riddick was in was rammed by a suspect during a police chase on Saturday, Sept. 21.

The car rolled off the road.

Officer Cody Huss, Riddick’s handler, was treated for his injuries at the hospital and released.

Riddick died at the scene.

Riddick was a 3 1/2-year-old German Shepard, trained in apprehension and drug detection.

He was one of 12 K-9 officers with the Nampa Police Department which is the largest K-9 unit in Idaho for the past 2 years.

There will be a public service in remembrance of K-9 Riddick in the near future.
