As threats of school violence have circulated on social media, the Boise School District will be holding a special board meeting on TONIGHT (Monday) to discuss safety and security protocols.
The Idaho Press reports this meeting follows a Thursday investigation that resulted in a BSD student being detained for making threats of school violence at Fairmont Junior High and Capital High School via social media.
The Boise School District meeting will include a presentation on current safety measures in collaboration with the Boise Police Department.
Speakers will also detail the process of investigating threats.
The district is encouraging the public to attend in person to learn more about the Boise School District’s safety and security procedures.
For those unable to attend the meeting, it will also be livestreamed on the district’s YouTube Channel.
The meeting will be held at the District Services Center, 8169 W. Victory Road in Boise at 5:30 p.m.
Monday’s agenda also includes the possibility of BSD closing schools on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 5, to accommodate the use of school campuses as polling locations while keeping security in mind.
The board is likely to vote on this item at the special meeting.
