Firefighters in the west are getting some help.
CBS2 reports the National Interagency Fire Center in Boise is mobilizing active-duty military personnel to help with firefighting efforts.
On Saturday more than 250 soldiers from Joint Base Lewis McChord in Washington will arrive in Boise and then deploy to the Boise and Payette national forests to join the fight.
The national preparedness level is at the highest level.
Currently nearly 70 large wildfires are burning across American and many more in Canada.
About 8,400 square miles of land has burned. That’s about 25 percent more than the 10-year average.
Soldiers from Joint Base Lewis McChord are no stranger to Idaho – 200 members deployed for a similar mission in 2018.
