Department of the Interior Deputy Secretary Tommy Beaudreau traveled to the National Interagency Fire Center Monday.
During his visit, Beaudreau toured the grounds and met with leaders such as Mayor Lauren McClean.
This was to highlight the investment plans from President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for wildfire resilience, conservation, and ecosystem restoration.
Biden’s plan includes investing in the wildland firefighter workforce by raising wages and investing in preventative measures.
CBS 2 News reports, Mayor McLean added that wildfire impacts not just the land around us, but the city we live in.
