Boise State men’s basketball is set for its first home game in 2022, Tuesday against Air Force. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. MT at ExtraMile Arena.
ABOUT AIR FORCE: The Falcons are 8-6 overall and 1-2 in Mountain West play. They collected a win against Utah State to start league play, before falling to Colorado State and Nevada. Eight of Air Force’s 14 games have been decided by single digits, including all three conference games. Senior guard A.J. Walker was a third-team All-MW selection last season and leads the Falcons in scoring this year at 16.7 points per game, the lone scorer in double figures.
SERIES HISTORY: Boise State leads the all-time series 15-6. Last season, the 10th game of Boise State’s school-record 13-game winning streak was at home against Air Force.
FABULOUS FRESHMEN: Tuesday’s matchup pits two of the Mountain West’s top freshmen against each other in Boise State’s Tyson Degenhart and Air Force’s Ethan Taylor. The reigning MW Freshman of the Week, Taylor has earned the award four times this season. His most recent came thanks in large part to recording the first triple-double in Air Force history last time out. Degenhart has claimed three MW Freshman of the Week honors. Boise State is 9-1 since he entered the starting lineup.
NINE STRAIGHT: Boise State enters the week riding a nine-game win streak, during which it is outscoring the opposition by 16.7 points per game. It is the Broncos’ third win streak of at least nine games in Leon Rice‘s 12 seasons as head coach and the sixth in program history. Boise State is shooting 47.7 percent from the floor and 38.8 percent from three-point range during the stretch.
