Gem County will begin aerial spraying for mosquitoes

Aerial spraying for mosquitoes in Gem County starts this week.

The local abatement district will fly a plane Thursday from 9 p.m. until midnight. The scheduled aerial application will be made to 12,800 acres west of the City of Emmett and out to the Gem County/Payette County line.

The Gem County Mosquito Abatement District says they continue to see increased numbers of mosquitoes infected with West Nile virus and increased populations of mosquitoes in general.

If you live in an area that’s being treated, no need to worry as officials say you don’t need to take any special precautions.
