Caldwell schools will recommend students and staff wear masks

The Caldwell School District Board of trustees on Monday voted unanimously to recommend all students and staff wear masks to begin the school year.

The trustees did not pass a mandate (which was a possibility) and in turn settled on the recommendation for students and staff. Anyone not part of the day-to-day community that visits a school will be required to wear a mask.

CBS 2 News reports, the trustees made the decision after hearing updates from doctors from West Valley Medical Center and St. Luke’s as well receiving an update from the Southwest District Health.

District officials plan to monitor early covid infection numbers and could move the recommendation to a face covering mandate if things worsen.
