The Idaho House Ethics Committee has voted unanimously to censure Rep. Priscilla Giddings for conduct unbecoming a member of the House, and to remove her from her committee assignment on the House Commerce and Human Resources Committee.
Giddings was not present during this morning’s proceedings which lasted less than an hour.
CBS 2 reports, in giving the final committee member statement, Committee chairman Rep. Sage Dixon stated, “Own what you did… “An apology could have resulted in dismissal of complaints.”
Giddings refused to answer questions from the House ethics committee that she deemed “irrelevant” during a hearing Monday.
Giddings became the subject of two ethics complaints by about two dozen lawmakers after she publicized the name, photo and personal details of a 19-year-old House intern who accused another House member of rape.
On Monday Giddings had stated “I deny all the allegations made against me in their entirety.”
The ethics committee’s recommendation will now go to the full House for a vote.
