Fruitland Police officers are still searching today (Thursday) for a missing 5-year-old boy who they believe may be in danger.
Idaho State Police issued an Endangered Missing Person Alert for Michael Joseph Vaughan on Tuesday. He was last seen on foot in the area of SW 9th and Arizona at about 6:30 p.m.
According to Fruitland Chief of Police JD Huff, the Army National Guard deployed a helicopter Wednesday, along with K-9 search teams and fire personnel. Water levels in the canals were reduced and searched, but still no sign of Michael.
Huff said this is a very active investigation and search effort that is ongoing. He said they are asking for the community’s help locating Michael Joseph Vaughan by remaining vigilant and observant.
CBS2 reports a citizen search is being coordinated today (Thursday) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Citizens can gather in the southern parking lot of the Fruitland High School. The police department will pass along search assignments.
