Boise State defensive back Kekaula Kaniho was named to the 2021 Jim Thorpe Award Preseason Watch List, Monday.
The Jim Thorpe Award is given annually to the best defensive back in college football based on performance on the field, athletic ability and character.
Established in 1986, the award is named after history’s greatest all-around athlete, Jim Thorpe.
The preseason watch list is comprised of 40 of the nation’s best defensive backs.
Kaniho returns in 2021 for a fifth year with the Broncos and most recently, was selected to the 2021 Preseason All-MW Football Team.
