BOI TSA found second gun in carry-on this week

Lorie Dankers, a TSA spokesperson, told 670 KBOI first that TSA officers at Boise Airport discovered the sixth firearm of 2021 this morning at 8 a.m. in the carry-on luggage of a female traveler ticketed for travel to Houston Intercontinental Airport. It was a Smith & Wesson M&P bodyguard handgun loaded with six rounds.

This was the second gun discovered this week by TSA.

A passenger traveling through the Boise Airport was cited for bringing a loaded gun in carry-on luggage on Tuesday. The 9 mm Sig Sauer P365 semi-automatic pistol was loaded with 19 rounds of ammo and was the fifth firearm discovered in a carry-on bag this year.

KIVI-TV reports on Tuesday the TSA Federal Security Director for Idaho Andy Coose said, this is another example of a passenger not taking time to check the contents of their carry-on luggage, which resulted in an expensive and inconvenient series of events.  In addition, this passenger’s actions slowed down the security screening process for travelers who were coming through the security checkpoint around the same time. With the number of people departing Boise Airport this summer, Coose said please be aware of what you have in your carry-on luggage.

Every year, the TSA reminds people they can’t carry guns onto planes.

You can put a gun in a checked bag as long as it’s in a secured lockbox.

The TSA says the passengers could each face up to a $10,000 fine.
