Idaho State Police say a permit was made available for a group of people on Saturday to demonstrate on the grounds of the Idaho Statehouse. Some of those people who demonstrated Saturday also burned masks.
But while there was some smoke, there was not a large bonfire, but instead a barrel where many masks were burned in protest of mask mandates across some areas of Idaho.
Idaho State Police say, those involved with the event were informed both before and during the event that open flames are not allowed on State Capitol grounds.
CBS 2 News reports, the protest Saturday was non-violent, but folks on the scene put numerous face masks and coverings inside the barrel and set them on fire.
