Library Smoking Ban Goes Up in Smoke at Nampa City Council

Nampa (670 KBOI News) – The Nampa City Council says no to a proposed smoking ban outside the Nampa Library.

According to the Idaho Press, the proposal was voted down 4-2, with those opposed to the city ordinance saying they want the Nampa Development Corporation — the city’s Urban Renewal Area — to do something about it.

Councilman Randy Haverfield, who voted against the proposal, said having the NDC post sings would probably do as much good as passing another city ordinance.

He said he would make sure the subject is added to the NDC agenda.

Nampa Police Chief Joe Huff recently texted he didn’t think his officers would be able to enforce the ban, given all the other types of calls they have to respond to.
