Walking for a Cause

Meridian (670 KBOI News) – Alzheimer’s disease is the 6th leading cause of death in the USA, and has increased 89% since the year 2000.

Scientists have yet to figure out what causes it, but the Alzheimer’s Association of Idaho is doing what it can to help the effort.

Interim Director Lindsey Meloy says tomorrow’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s will raise funds to help research the disease, and to help the caregivers, who are often family members and loved ones.

“Tomorrow is the Treasure Valley Walk to End Alzheimer’s, and we will be getting started at 10:00 am in Julius Kleiner Park,” said Meloy.  “We’re really celebrating the work that our participants have put in to raise funds and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Association.”

She says everyone is welcome, even well-behaved dogs. The course is about a mile and a half around Kleiner Park in Meridian.
