Bulls Run for the Record on Wall Street

Boise (670 KBOI News) – The bull has been running on Wall Street for nine years…that’s a record.

Brian Wiley, host of Idaho’s Money Show on 670 KBOI, says there have been corrections along the way, like in February and again in April, but all in all, the markets have been growing since the depths of the Great Recession.

“This current bull market started back in March of 2009,” said Wiley.  “The S and P 500 at that time was 676 points, obviously hit very hard then by the Great Recession.  So it’s anything but down is what it could do at that time; it just continued to move up.”

The S and P 500 closed today at 2,862, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average is inching closer to its record close of 26,616, which it hit on February 26th of this year.

Wiley says investors can’t get too carried away, though, because there will be corrections, and even bear markets in the future.
