Boise (670 KBOI News) – Spring means different things to different people, but for hunters, it means spring turkey season.
Evin Oneale with Idaho Fish and Game says the results of the draw for the spring controlled hunt are out. He says turkey hunting has gotten so popular in Idaho they have to make certain areas draw-hunt only.
“They’re controlled hunts for a reason,” said Oneale. “Because the locations where those hunts are held are fairly desirable by hunters, and we have too many folks who would like to hunt there. So we’ve gone to a controlled hunt system.”
By the way, Area 38, which is essentially the Treasure Valley, is one of those draw-only areas.
Oneale says their website is chock-full of information for your hunt (click here)…rules, safety tips, and the Hunt Planner tool.
Spring turkey starts April 15th, and runs through May. You have to have a hunting license, which is $15.75 for adults, and a turkey tag, which will set you back $22.75.
