The MM43 Fire: The Bureau of Land Management and several fire crews are battling a brush fire in Emmett near Highway 52 and Spring Creek Road. The fire sparked Thursday afternoon. BLM Crews say the fire has burned around 10,000 acres. Crews said Thursday night a dozer line was holding the flames, but they don’t expect to have it contained until Friday night. Officials believe the fire was caused by a bird that hit a power line.

Griffy Fire: UPDATE: Fire contained! BLM crews and several fire agencies are battling a grass fire near Murphy. The Griffy Fire sparked Thursday afternoon about 4 miles from Murphy. The BLM says the fire burned 242 acres Thursday night and Friday morning but crews were getting the upper hand on it. Because of this fire crews were forced to close trails near the West Rabbit Creek area. Officials expect to have that fire contained or at least controlled by Friday night.

South Slope Fire: BLM Crews and firefighters are also battling a grass fire that’s a few miles away from Emmett called The South Slope Fire. That fire also sparked Thursday afternoon and was last estimated at around 150 acres. Crews say the fire was threatening several structures, but they were able to keep them protected. Officials say this fire is believed to have been human caused.
