The Idaho Transportation Department wants to remind families across Idaho who are heading to the mountains in search of the perfect Christmas tree to be sure they are prepared for winter conditions.
For those venturing into the mountains to cut their own Christmas tree, ITD encourages drivers to be prepared by packing an emergency kit that includes:
Flashlight
Jumper cables
Kitty litter
Chains
Small shovel
First aid kit
Food and water
Small sleeping bag or blanket
Winter coat, gloves, waterproof boots
Ice scraper
Phone charger
Before heading out on winter trips, drivers are reminded to check road conditions at 511.idaho.gov.
