Quagga Mussels showing up again in Snake River

The Idaho State Department of Agriculture (ISDA) reports they’ve detected a “Small number of invasive quagga mussels once again in the Snake River near Twin Falls.

Further testing is currently underway to help determine the scope of the current infestation.

Quagga mussels were first detected in the Snake River near Twin Falls in September 2023.

CBS 2 reports, the ISDA closed sections of the river and began treating it with chelated copper.

Since April of 2023, ISDA says they have conducted more than 3,000 sample tests for quagga mussels across the state.

ISDA is working on a treatment plan and gathering more information from testing and will inform the public prior to implementing a response to the current discovery of the invasive mussels.
