After the tragic death of 5-year-old Matthew Glynn, Boise Police are reminding the community of the important conversation of canal safety…but want to emphasize that Matthews death was an accident.
Boise Police Chief Ron Winegar said irrigation canals are not playgrounds or recreational…but added, “obviously that wasn’t the case in Matthews situation”.
KIVI-TV reports, with close to 500 miles of canals from Lake Lowell to Lucky Peak, Winegar said they strongly encourage people to be aware and stay vigilant around the cold, fast moving canal waters.
The Ada County Coroners Office has released Matthews official cause of death as drowning, and the manner of death as an accident.
The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Boise Police Department.
