Demolition begins Boise Airport hangar site

Demolition of the hangar site that collapsed at the Boise Airport is set to start this week.

Officials say demolition will start on Wednesday, June 19th, or Thursday, June 20th, and will likely take six weeks to complete.

CBS2 reports Big D Builder said:

The hanger site at the Boise Airport has recently been released by OSHA.

Since that time, additional site inspections by several parties have taken place; plans and safety protocols for removing the structure from the site have been developed; and it is now time to move forward.

Three people were killed and nine others were injured when the 39,000 square-foot steel hangar that was under construction collapsed on January 31, 2024.

The Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce established the Rebuilding Together fund to raise money directly for the families impacted by the collapse.
