Kuna School District budget cuts

The Kuna School District Board of Trustees met Tuesday night to address budget cuts for the 2024-25 school year after voters in May rejected a $5.3 million levy.

The board was tasked with cutting $2.5 million from this coming year’s budget and $3.2 million the 2025-26 school year. During the meeting, members voted 3-2 to approve a new budget plan.

CBS 2 reports, significant cuts for the fall include eliminating five teaching positions, 10 non-classroom positions, and five district positions.

Additionally, the district will end middle school early release busing, reduce extra transportation and field trips, halt student device replacements and non-core curriculum purchases.

And Hubbard Elementary’s annex building, critically in need of updates, will temporarily close, with students being relocated.
