The Satanic Temple sues Idaho over abortion ritual rights

The Satanic Temple (TST) has filed two new lawsuits in Idaho and Indiana to “protect their member’s abortion rights.”

In the complaint filed on September 30, in District Court, the Satanic Temple alleges the religious rights of its members are being infringed upon by the abortion ban in Idaho.

The complaint enumerates several beliefs held by the TST members that are being violated by the new Idaho ban, including restricting member’s access to abortion “infringes on their religious right to participate in Satanic Abortion Ritual,” and “forcing someone who does not consent to become pregnant to proceed with their pregnancy represents an unconstitutional seizure of property,” namely their uterus in this case, according to a press release by the TST.

Several other violations of civil liberties are listed in the filing, including the violation of the 13th amendment, “because the state is compelling them to provide safety, nutrition, and other services against their will.” The 13th amendment outlawed slavery and involuntary servitude in the United States Constitution.

This is an ongoing case and we will update this story as more information becomes available.
