Last week, the Caldwell City Council voted against Mayor Jerom Wagoner’s pick for police chief.
The mayor said he was disappointed by the council’s decision, and worries about just how short staffed the department’s leadership team is right now.
So what happens now?
Idaho code says if a city council refuses to confirm an appointment made by the mayor and a new name is not submitted within 10 days, then the council shall appoint a suitable person to fill that office during the remainder of its term.
The city said in a news release that the council is expected to present Rex Ingram, a lieutenant with the Los Angeles Police Department, as its choice for police chief at the June 20th council meeting.
