The Nampa School District is closing five schools for the rest of the week due to staffing shortages across the district.
School officials on Tuesday said students at New Horizons Dual Language School, Gateways, Nampa Early Childhood Learning Center, East Valley Middle School and Centennial Elementary will be out for the rest of the week.
A statement from the district says they are seeing extremely high levels of illness in schools and the community.
There were roughly 170 staff members and 72 unfilled classrooms on Tuesday across the district.
CBS 2 reports, officials say while it’s regrettable, closing these schools will allow staff to get healthy and help the district redeploy substitutes to other schools.
The district hopes to resume class on Monday, Jan. 24.
