Idaho airports saw a record number of handguns discovered in passenger carry-on luggage in 2021.
The TSA says there were 40 guns discovered at six airports across the Gem State. Boise Airport led the way with 34, while Idaho Falls Regional Airport had four.
CBS 2 reports, Lewiston and Magic Valley each had a firearm incident while Pocatello and Friedman Memorial (Hailey/Sun Valley) had zero.
TSA says before you head to the airport, they implore all passengers to carefully inspect the contents of your bag to ensure you don’t have anything prohibited with you when you get to the TSA checkpoint.
Roughly 2.4 million passengers and crew flew in Idaho airports in 2021, which is up from 1.3 million in 2020. Folks who get caught bringing a gun into their carry-on luggage can face criminal and civil penalties.
