Utility customers in Twin Falls need to be on high alert.
The city on Tuesday warned that scammers, claiming to be with the City of Twin Falls, are calling customers and demanding immediate payment to prevent utility shutoff.
CBS2 reports that according to the city’s website this is a scam and residents should not provide payment or personal information to the caller.
Now, if you are a resident with a delinquent account, a City of Twin Falls representative will call and provide you with your account number for verification.
Remember the City will never contact a customer on the day of shutoff — all customers with delinquent accounts will receive a call and warning letter several days prior to shutoff.
And lastly, a City of Twin Falls representative will always tell you the full and past due amounts, which should be the same as those listed on your city utility billing statement.
