Fines for 2016 fire are still unpaid

According to county records, the man convicted of starting a devastating fire that destroyed a home near Table Rock in the summer of 2016 continues to not pay his fines.

The Ada County Clerk’s Office told CBS2 this week that Taylor Kemp owes over $370,000 in restitution.

He was found guilty of lighting a roman candle firework that caused the 2,500-acre fire.

The county says Kemp last made a payment of $20 in February of 2019 and has paid back a total of $432.50.

According to the Ada County Sheriff’s website, a contempt of court warrant was issued for the Middleton man several months later and it’s still showing as active.
