A Caldwell school and community are reeling following the death of an admired administrator.
Javier Castaneda, the principal and superintendent of Heritage Community Charter School, died as an “unexpected result” of falling ill with COVID-19.
Castaneda is survived by his wife, Maria, and seven children.
The Idaho Press reports, Castaneda began to show symptoms around Sept. 4, and was hospitalized shortly after. He was put on a ventilator on Sept. 1th0 and died five days later.
According to the family, Castaneda was healthy and athletic before contracting the disease.
