B-17 Bomber commemorative tour visits Nampa

CBS2 reports the B-17 Bomber Sentimental Journey came to Nampa Monday and will be open to the public until Sunday.

“A one of a kind collection of the rarest historical military planes in the world will be near you,” explained a spokesperson for the Commemorative Air Force. “Come see them up close and personal, and better yet fly in one!”

The Grand Tours run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and 2-6 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

“What we want to do is show people this is a living history museum. It’s not a static display like you go to see in other museums,” said Roddy Charlton, the ground team coordinator. “This museum we travel all around the US, and it’s a living museum because it’s engines are breathing and they can see the airplane, they can see it land, they can see it take off, they can watch the engine starts and it brings the history of WWII back to a modern era of people.”

Tickets are $10 a person or $20 for a family of four. You can purchase your tickets at the gate.

The tour asks everyone attending to follow some guidelines:

If you are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, please stay at home
Please maintain social distancing while waiting in line to make purchases at our trailer; waiting in line for airplane tours or when inside the plane
Wearing a face covering is optional or as required by local restrictions
