Snake River Complex fire is now approaching 80,000 acres

 

A huge wildfire in Idaho is now getting more attention. The Snake River Complex fire is now approaching 80,000 acres.

The incident commander says it’s the No. 1 priority in the country.

On Monday, air support continued to come from above when pilots weren’t hindered by smokey conditions. Crews used a nearby Lake to collect water.

Evacuation orders remain in place according to the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office.

The Snake River Complex comprises of three wildfires: the Shovel Creek, Captain John Creek, and Hoover Ridge fires that all started by lightning on July 7th.

The fires are in steep terrain and approximately 20-miles south of Lewiston in the Craig Mountains.
