Free Fishing Day in Idaho

This Saturday (June 12) is the yearly “Free Fishing Day” in Idaho.

Free Fishing Day is an Idaho tradition that usually includes Fish & Game employees and volunteers bringing fishing gear to various fishing spots, and loaning equipment, to help people learn how to fish.

But this year is a little different, in that Fish & Game staff won’t be hosting any events…but the public is still able to get out and enjoy some fishing…whether you have a license or not.

In the past month or so leading up to Free Fishing Day, Fish and Game hatcheries stocked about 400,000 catchable rainbow trout in waters throughout the state…and there are a variety of other species to catch in Idaho waterways.

While anyone can fish Saturday, you do still have to follow the various rules like size or catch limits.
