Female grizzly bear killed in eastern Idaho; $40,000 reward offered

A reproductive female grizzly bear was found shot and killed in the Island Park area last month.

The bear’s cub, which was in the bear’s den, also died as a result of its mother’s death.

Idaho Fish and Game said the bear was shot in the Pole Bridge Campground area between March 15-23.

CBS2 reports there is no grizzly bear hunting season in Idaho as the bears are protected by state and federal laws.

The bear was wearing a monitoring collar and it gave off a mortality signal.

The bear was found partially submerged in the Little Warm River.

It’s the third grizzly bear shooting to have occurred in the area over the past eight months.
