University of Idaho Students Begin Fall Semester Monday

The University of Idaho will be welcoming students back on Monday.

In a letter to faculty and staff on Wednesday, university president Scott Green says staff members have been working on plans all summer to ensure a safe campus for students, staff and the community.

Some of their new protocols include testing all faculty and staff for coronavirus before teaching in-person classes, as well as encouraging any staff members who have traveled recently to also get tested.

CBS 2 News reports, is reporting that less than 1% of the 3,700 tests already performed have come back with positive results at U of I, five of which live on campus and are quarantined in the isolation facility.

Over the next week, they are set to test 3,000 more individuals and are currently awaiting results on 1,000 tests that are still being processed.
