Lawmakers express concern over Gov. Brad Little’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic

Under the Idaho Constitution, only the governor can call a special session of the Legislature — but the Idaho Freedom Foundation and an unregistered political action committee tried to call one for this morning aimed at overturning the governor’s executive orders on the coronavirus pandemic, and about 15 House Republicans participated.

The legislators on hand did concede that they were not able to call a special session, but did read a proclamation (read below) before each lawmaker spoke to those who were on hand.  Most of those who spoke slammed Governor Brad Little and his handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Idaho Press reports, the Idaho Senate GOP leadership sent a memo out to all Republican senators saying the proposed “special session” is both illegal and unconstitutional.
