Who Are the Best Tippers in the USA? Not Millennials…

Boise (670 KBOI News) – As we travel about the country this holiday weekend, and this summer, a lot of people will do stuff for us, and often, they work for tips.

Creditcards.com analyst Ted Rossman says they looked at who are the best and worst tippers, and Millennials are by far the worst, averaging less than 15%, and often not tipping at all.

“I think for a lot of Millennials, there may be this feeling that ‘well, I don’t want to give a little bit extra, but somebody else will’.  Clearly, that’s not the best way to treat our hard-working staffers, at a restaurant, or a hotel, or some other sort of establishment,” said Rossman,  “But I think there is a little bit of passing the buck on the part of Millennials.”

As a rule of thumb, Rossman says if someone drives you to the airport, handles your luggage, brings you food or drinks, or cleans up after you, they probably work for tips…so take care of them.

So who are the best tippers? Women tip better than men, and older people tip better than, well, Millennials.
