Jury finds William Taylor guilty on murder charges

Following up on a story we have been watching over the last couple of weeks. A jury on Tuesday convicted William Taylor of Nampa of murdering his parents in 2017.

The jurors found Taylor guilty of first-degree murder of his father and second-degree murder of his mother, and two counts of failing to notify police of their deaths.

The bodies of Paul and Jane Taylor were found in a shed on their Nampa property, roughly a week after their deaths.

Following attorneys’ closing arguments Tuesday, the jury deliberated for about four hours before finding William Taylor guilty.

At the time of the murders, William Taylor, a former police officer, had been living with his parents for about a year in the 1900 block of West Flamingo Avenue, a quiet retirement community.

The Idaho Press reports, William Taylor was arrested on unrelated charges at an Oregon rest stop a day after the bodies were found. He was in his father’s truck with stolen plates. Three weeks later he was charged with two counts of murder.

William Taylor’s sentencing will be set for a later date.
