Boise (670 KBOI News) – The bill which would allow 18-20 year old adults to carry concealed pistols inside city limits without a permit, is headed to Governor Little’s desk for his approval.

The full Senate voted 28-7 today to pass House Bill 206…it would simplify the state’s so-called constitutional carry law, says sponsor Representative Christy Zito of Hammett.

Right now, all adults can carry concealed pistols without a permit statewide, but those 18-20 can’t do it inside city limits. They can carry openly, though, which Zito says could make them criminals for simply putting on their coats.

Opponents argued that there was no training component to the bill, and often 18-year olds are still in high school and have 15 and 16-year old friends.

House Bill 206 is one of a handful of controversial bills still waiting for final action in the legislature, which is scheduled to adjourn this week.
