Crapo Votes to Send Kavanaugh Nomination to Full Senate

Boise (670 KBOI News) – The nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to be the next Supreme Court Justice is out of Committee and headed to the full Senate…with a recommendation that an FBI investigation be conducted into accusations of sexual assault 36 years ago.

Idaho Senator Mike Crapo is a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and voted to advance Kavanaugh’s nomination to the full Senate.

In this exchange with Chairman Chuck Grassley of Iowa, Crapo countered Democrats, who are calling for an FBI investigation, saying they’ve already investigation Christine Ford’s accusations.

(Crapo) “My understand is that when you, as the Chairman, finally found out about the information, that that information also went to the FBI.  Perhaps it was the Ranking Member (note: Sen. Diane Feinstein of California is the Ranking Member of the Committee), who gave the information — the letter — to the FBI, but the FBI was given the information…is that correct?”

(Grassley) “That is correct, and they said to the White House,  in the usual way they do, that they considered it closed.”

Whether there is a one-week delay so the FBI can investigate — again — apparently is in the hands of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. President Trump says he’s okay with the delay.
