Closing in on Football season 2018
Amazing returning players. Terrific facilities. Epic recruiting. Put all those things together and you get HIGH EXPECTATIONS!
That is exactly what Boise State will be shouldered with as they move into the Pre-season phase of this season, which kicked off today (7/24/18) at the 2018 Mountain West Football Preseason Summit in Las Vegas.
Before things even really got started, the Broncos were a unanimous first-place pick to win the Mountain Division, garnering all 22 first-place votes available. I mean, why not? Boise State has been predicted to win the Mountain Division the last five seasons. Also, because the Broncos are LOADED coming into 2018 with 18 starters returning from 2017, including six on offense and 10 on defense.
The biggest reason to expect big things this year is Senior QB Brett Rypien, who is the Preseason MW Offensive Player of the Year.
By the way, Fresno State was picked to win the West Division, but San Diego State is expected to compete too.
While we mostly will be rooting for Boise State to dominate, a big part of me hopes Wyoming or Colorado State steps up and gives the Broncos a reason to play hard. If they run away with the Division untested, those big games at the end of the season could be less that certain.
