Random Thoughts of a News and Sports Junkie: 3/17/17

Happy St. Patrick’s Day.  I have some very good memories of St. Patrick’s Day over the years.  Worth noting, the year I was invited by the Oakland A’s to attend Spring training for a weekend. As an A’s affiliate station, the team treated me to a weekend watching the club play ball on St. Patrick’s Day weekend.  My wife and I watched baseball games by day in the spring sunshine, and NCAA tournament games in the evening, and in the process enjoyed many a frosty beverage.  Good times!

Is anyone besides me frustrated by our inability to get rid of the common cold?  We can send things to Mars, read your genetic DNA code, the Cubs can win the World Series… But we can’t keep everyone in America from getting the sniffles EVERY year?  What gives?  C’mon science!

I try not to get too political in these Blogs I am asked to do. I’ll avoid discussion of my support or non-support for the new American Health Care Act.  So, just to state the obvious, it is ridiculously expensive to go to the doctor and receive any kind of treatment.  Having Health Care but not being able to afford to use it is the same as NOT having Health Care coverage.

I’ve said this before.  Trump may not be the guy I would have elected to be President, but I have got to hand it to him for doing everything he said he would do.

Raises in the governments budget for military spending… check.

Raises in the governments spending on Veterans Services… check.

Decreases in State Department Spending… double check.
