Boise River Hits Flood Stage

A flood warning has been issued in Ada and Canyon counties, as the Boise River to hit flood stage, which hasn’t happened this early since 1997.

The National Weather Service has issued the warning for areas along the Boise River, as officials with the Bureau of Reclamation and the Army Corps. of Engineers plan to release more water into the river to clear space in Lucky Peak Reservoir.

KBOI-2-TV reports that these increased flows will help reduce the flood risk later in the spring, which can happen due to rapidly melting snow and rain.
